BONNIE BEAUCHAMP-COOKE
BIOGRAPHY
When not in her Atlanta studio, Bonnie is with her family and dogs in Madison, Georgia trail riding her horses or working the cattle on her Southeastern farm. Life on the farm is where the passion for her drawings and paintings developed. Bonnie has painted actively since high school and has owned and ridden horses for pleasure and competition all her life. Her evocative paintings of horses and landscapes have won appeal and praise while she continues to create new and inventive views in her art.
Bonnie is driven and motivated by her love of nature and her personal connection to God, which she shares with her viewers by including a cross in each painting. This drive and motivation lead to her unique, captivating style that is expressed through her love for working with her hands. By prepping canvases with molding paste, dirt, paint and paper before she applies the acrylic and oil paint over the surface by hand, Bonnie is able to create the spectacular textures that have earned the respect and admiration of the artistic community. Although her canvas work is breathtaking, it is only the tip of the iceberg. Using industrial graphite from China, normally used to cool heavy machinery, applied with her hands to a heavy archival paper, she pours her soul into her magnificent artwork.
Bonnie studied at the University of Georgia and The Atlanta College of Art, receiving her BFA in painting and drawing in 1991. She maintains a commitment to the arts community by serving on the board of the Hambidge Center, an Artist retreat in North Georgia. She was also one of the co-founding board members of the Museum of Contemporary Art of Georgia (MOCAga). She has been published in Veranda, Southwest Magazine, Atlanta Homes and Lifestyles, Simply Buckhead and Atlanta Journal & Constitution; to name a few. Previous representation was Fay Gold Gallery, The Blue Print Store, Dallas, TX and Arroyo Gallery, Telluride Co. She maintains a studio in Atlanta and is currently represented at Atlanta’s Huff Harrington Fine Art Gallery.
